An exclusive poll conducted by USA TODAY/Suffolk University showed that more Americans said they trust Trump, the 2024 Republican primary front-runner, than Biden to make the economy better by a 47%-36% margin. The spread is 46%-26% in Trump’s favor among independent voters.
The poll also revealed that 76% of independents and even 34% of Democrats said the economy is getting worse. Only 22% of Americans said they are better off financially than they were a year ago.
The poll results suggest that Biden is facing a serious challenge to his economic agenda and credibility, as he tries to pass his $3.5 trillion social spending plan and deal with rising inflation, supply chain disruptions, labor shortages, and other issues.
