Biden & China’s Xi talks yields modest progress on military communications and fentanyl fight

President Joe Biden and Chinese leader Xi Jinping held a virtual summit on Monday, their first face-to-face meeting since Biden took office.

The two leaders discussed a range of issues, including trade, human rights, Taiwan, and climate change.

While no major breakthroughs were announced, the White House said the summit was “candid, constructive, and respectful” and resulted in some modest progress on establishing military crisis communication mechanisms and combating the illicit production and trafficking of fentanyl.
