Tim Scott drops out of GOP presidential race, Trump the clear frontrunner

Senator Tim Scott of South Carolina, who was widely seen as one of the most viable challengers to former President Donald Trump in the 2024 Republican primary, announced on Sunday that he was ending his campaign.

Scott cited his frustration with the “toxic” and “divisive” state of politics and his desire to focus on his work in the Senate.

His exit leaves Trump as the clear frontrunner in the GOP field, with only a handful of potential rivals remaining.
